ta!

I think I'm clear for both of those dates at the moment and as far as I can see there's no WW2 re-enactment events on those dates...

In fact April is pretty clear.

Just to check... those are dates which can definately not be construed by anyone as open days aren't they?

scratch that

Crich have their 1940s day on the 8th... so please not that...

Though hmm... I suppose that we only went one day of the weekend last time so could do the same again! It is a two day event

Both those dates are not open days but for our private booking (should we choose to).

Book em Danno - Arnhem 1 for the 22nd .

Not my call -but i reckon Phoenix for Arnhem might be a safer bet as LFU2 isn't open yet , be nice not to have any uncertainty like we did with the date at F&O . I know LFW2 was found to be unsuitable quite quickly , and we're now on LFW3 , it would be a shame if LFs new urban site went tits up shortly before the game for whatever reason .
As I say though , not my call, happy to go with the flow etc  , just think we'd be better opening a booking thread ASAP .

I was thinking the same, I don't want to push Rich into it though. Of course if we go for PU for April we could do LFU for the last game of the year if Close Action becomes a late summer event (a bleak urban is better than a bleak woodland).

My only concern about using PU as 'Arnhem' is not fixating on the bloody bridge because that will be a disaster as *any* attempt to vis rep one will be laughable.

Instead the bridge should be a 'goal' IMO.

E.g.

Your force must exit via this point it then counts as reinforcing the troops at the bridge head. Or we have the bridge area represented by the houses/buildings overlooking the approach ramp. in fact that relaly big sloping drive would make a great 'approach ramp'

Later games after the mornings 'bridge goals' should reflect the defensive perimeter of lonsdale and the hartenstein etc.

God know how we shoehorn yanks inot it and as the will outnumber uk airsofters we may have been better going for 'nimegan'

I think most yank scenario involvements are going to have to be 'breakthrough. As the US army was never supposed to link up with 1st airborne were seriously stretching credibility as it is.

US troops at Arnhem feels a bit U571 to me :)

Okay... but don't book yet. I'd still like to take a look at LFU2... I am however starting to be moved by this...

I agree wholeheartedly with Gadge.

The way I see us getting more people onto the UK side is to put the booking down as 3 sides. British, US, Axis with limits on all three.

Then post that warren has 15 denison smocks available for purchase and that is an ideal way to do an airborne loadout.

Hopefully we can persuade people to play brit this way...

If it looks out of hand, we change it to something other than Arnhem... the way to do this from the start is to market it as "Operation Market Garden" rather than just Arnhem...

BTW: Dave, have you talked to Phoenix about how we do bookings, take deposits, etc...?

Just discussed site availability, staff/marshal involvement and deposits.

Dates you know.

Told Grogan we wanted full site/game control and marshal presence was for H&S plus game assistance - although I would be happy about discussing plans with Gareth (who runs the games now) for his input at some stage.

Grogan asked that we handle deposits, said that was fine.

Other than that I haven't gone into any depth as it would be premature and presumptuous.

Certainly like the idea of pushing for more Brit players - the swathes of US and Axis troops was amazing at F&O, how cool would 30 players in berets and Denisons be!

I feel an updated version of Gadge's article is needed - fully illustrated! It's a bit late to get Kermit interested in doing something for AI given the mag lead times but certainly for the web site... maybe we do a photo shoot on the 21st of Gadge & Rich? Any idea what Warren's Belgian Denisons look like?

Okay... all cool stuff.

Yup... Ed has one... they're pretty good to be honest.

Also Guy has one! :)

Agreed photo shoot is a good idea....

I can update the Brit kit guide for british airborne no problems.

I'll get on it this week.

Those look more like DPM to my lay eyes... wern't WW2 smocks more in the red spectrum rather than the green? I suppose the pattern could be anything as they were hand painted so must have been pretty random.

Found this photo of Warren's Belgian smocks:

I only get a third of a pic there.

The first run were hand painted for SOE and made wiht a water soluble dye, the idea being that they could be washed repeatedly and fade out to look liek peasants farmers smocks.

By the time you get to 1943 they were factory runs on machines as far as i know.
